Description
This is an easy, delicious Golden syrup dumpling recipe served with cream, ice cream, custard, or served by itself. Budget-friendly, made from staple ingredients.

Dumplings:
- 1 Cup Self Raising Flour
- 1/4 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tbs Butter
- 1 Egg
- 2-3 Tbs milk
Syrup:
- 1 1/2 Cups Boiling Water
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1 Tbs Butter
- 1 Tbs Golden Syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celcius (fan forced).
- Sift flour and salt into a large mixing bowl.
- Rub butter into flour mixture until it is nice and crumbly.
- Add egg and milk, then mix with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms. It may be a little sticky, this is fine.
- Place dessertspoons of dough into a greased baking dish.
- Place ingredients for syrup into a saucepan and stir until all the sugar is dissolved and bring to the boil.
- Pour syrup over dumplings and place in preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until cooked through.
- Serve with custard, cream or icecream.
Notes
- You could easily double the dumpling sauce ingredients to make more sauce to go over them, as let’s face it who doesn’t love dumpling sauce, yum!
